For this project, I was asked to choose a subject that interests me and create an animation using the format of an ABC book.
Project Overview
For this project, I wanted to focus on the anatomy of letterforms. Some of my goals for this animation were to have smooth transitions, a breakdown of letterforms into shapes, and fun colours. I wanted the style of my animation to be 2D, graphic, colourful, and smooth.

Storyboard
This was the initial storyboard that I came with and as you can see I wanted the direction of each stroke of each letter to really be emphasized, almost so that you can't see what each letter is until it is revealed at the end of the strokes. Here is a link to the inspiration I found for this animation, particularly the second slide.
Style Frames
These were my final style frames where I included colour, motion concepts and approximate time stamps. The circles inside each shape indicate a mask revealing what each letterform is. And when the letterform is revealed, each portion that makes up the letterform would reveal behind it and have some kind of movement to it.
Final Animation
For the audio, I wanted to find something that would complement the animation. I wanted a sound that would tie in nicely with the timing of the animation without taking away from the visuals but I also wanted to add my own additional sounds on top of the soundtrack. I ended up finding a soundtrack that went really well with the timing of my animation and then later adding swoosh sound effects every time the masking would disappear from each letter.
